Vietnam exported goods valued at $38.8 billion during January–October, 2022—an increase of 21 per cent year-on-year (YoY)—to members of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The Southeast Asian nation has witnessed a significant rise in exports to CPTPP members ever since the partnership came into effect three years ago.From January to October 2022, Vietnam gained a trade surplus of $4.4 billion. In 2021, the country earned $45.7 billion in revenue from exports to CPTPP members, which is a rise of 18 per cent YoY, according to local media reports.
Vietnam’s garment and textile and leather shoe industries boosted shipments to CPTPP members by 15 per cent when compared to before the agreement. Local firms benefit from the tax preferences put on Vietnamese goods by the CPTPP.
