India exported 930 thousand metric tons of cotton yarn in marketing year (MY) 2019-20 (August to July) with a monthly average of 77.50 thousand metric tons. Exports significantly increased by 14.9 per cent to a monthly average of 88.50 thousand metric tons in the first half of MY 2020-21, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market analysis tool TexPro.
Cotton yarn exports are expected to remain slightly higher in the second half of MY 2020-21 to reach a monthly average of 91.03 thousand metric tons, recording a surge of 2.86 per cent over the exports in first half of MY 2020-21.
As for cotton fabric, the country exported 1,494.15 million square metres in MY 2019-20 with a monthly average of 124.51 million square metres. The monthly average rose by 23.50 per cent to 153.77 million square metres in the first half of MY 2020-21.
Cotton fabric exports are likely to decrease by 2.82 per cent in the second half of MY 2020-21 to a monthly average of 149.43 million square metres, over the exports in the first half.
