3.3 mn unemployed people in EU found jobs between Q1 & Q2 2022

Between the first and second quarter of 2022, 6.9 million (51.4 per cent) people remained unemployed and 3.2 million unemployed people (23.6 per cent) became economically inactive in the European Union (EU). During the period, 3.3 million unemployed people in the EU (25 per cent of all unemployed in the first quarter of 2022) found a job.

Of all those in employment in the first quarter of 2022, 2.4 million (1.2 per cent of all employed in the first quarter of 2022) became unemployed in the second quarter of 2022, and 5 million (2.5 per cent) transitioned into economic inactivity, according to Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

Of those counted as economically inactive in the first quarter of 2022, 5.2 million (4.4 per cent of all economically inactive in the first quarter of 2022) moved into employment in the second quarter of 2022 and 3.9 million (3.3 per cent) transitioned into unemployment.
