CBR says tax collection up 19% at Rs 302.1bln

Tax collection has shown an increase of 19.8 percent compared to last years collection of Rs 252.1 billion.

The Central Board of Revenue has declared collection of Rs 302.1 billion for the first half, of the current year, ending December 30.

The half-yearly target will be achieved by December 31, 2005, as it is the last day of collection of corporate returns of income tax, believes the CBR.

An increase of 22.5 percent in comparison to last year's collection of direct taxes has been reported.

The collection of direct tax till December 2005 has been Rs 88.6 billion.

The sales tax collection has increased to 20.6 percent this year compared to last year with collection standing at Rs. 129.3 billion.

Sales tax collection at the import stage has gone up by 16 percent and at the domestic stage the increase has been recorded at 28.7 percent.

An increase of 20.7 percent has been reported by customs returning a collection figure of Rs 60.1 billion till December 30.

The collection of federal excise duty with a collection of Rs 24.1 billion reports an increase of 5.9 percent compared to previous year.

The month-end figures of December 2005 will be released by CBR on January 2nd 2006 after data received from banks has been analyzed.
