Non-durable goods output up in Dec compared to Nov 2005

In December 2005 compared to November, production of energy increased by 2.9% in the euro-zone and by 2.3% in the EU25.

Non-durable consumer goods rose by 0.8% and 0.7% respectively. Durable consumer goods fell by 0.1% in the euro-zone, but grew by 0.6% in the EU25. Capital goods declined by 0.5% in the euro-zone and by 0.1% in the EU25. Intermediate goods decreased by 0.6% and 0.1% respectively.

In December 2005, and among the Member States for which data are available, industrial production rose in sixteen Member States and fell in six. The highest increases were registered in Luxembourg (+8.4%), Portugal (+5.4%), Denmark (+4.2%) and Estonia (+3.6%), while the largest decreases were recorded in Ireland (-6.8%), Greece (-1.2%) and Germany (-0.6%).

Annual comparison
In December 2005 compared to December 2004, production of capital goods rose by 3.8% in the euro-zone and by 3.9% in the EU25.

Energy gained 3.4% and 1.4% respectively. Durable consumer goods increased by 3.3% in the euro-zone and by 3.9% in the EU25.

Intermediate goods grew by 2.3% and 2.6% respectively, and non-durable consumer goods rose by 1.0% in the euro-zone and by 1.4% in the EU25.

In December 2005, and among the Member States for which data are available, industrial production rose in eighteen Member States and fell in four.

The highest increases were registered in Luxembourg (+17.5%), Estonia (+14.3%), Poland (+14.0%) and Hungary (+12.9%), while decreases were recorded in Finland and the United Kingdom (both -1.5%), Greece and France (both -0.9%).
