Apparel production shows consistent growth

Thailand's apparel industry has persistently increased its production throughout January 2006.

Cotton garments sector continues to record its high growth rate with exports to the US that improved by 12.3 percent to reach 326.8 million square meters in 2005.

However, man-made fibre apparel exports declined 11.2 percent to 200.5 million square metres in the year.

Production in the knitting sector went up from 6.3 percent in 2005 to 11 percent in 2006 to reach 189.6 million square yards.

Output of non-knit apparel shot up 6.1 percent in January this year to reach the 377.2 million pieces mark.
