Vietnam has big plans for its garment industry as it expects to yield almost US $15 billion from textiles and garment exports in 2015.

Experts predicted to earn around $5.5 billion in 2006, up from the anticipated $4.8 billion in 2005.

Country will also earn about $5.5 billion from the sales in local markets.

As for the imports, country has plans to cut down its material imports and increase its cotton and synthetic fibre output.

The emphasis will be on further developing existing markets and also venture into new markets by attracting new countries.

Of the 153 garment exporting countries, Vietnam currently stands at 16th position.

However, it is likely to climb to 10th position by 2010.
