Compared with the same period of previous year, industrial output has been increased by 1.2 percent –2.2 times for manufacture of textiles, manufacture of wearing apparel, dressing and dyeing of fur, tanning, dressing of leather, manufacture of furniture, manufacturing n.e.c, manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas divisions which includes other industry also.

Output declined also in manufacture of optical instruments, watches and clocks, publishing, printing and reproduction of recorded media, manufacture of luggage, handbags, saddlery, harness and footwear, manufacture of electrical machinery and apparatus etc. divisions.

Compared with the same period of previous year, the production of 58.8 percent of main industrial products increased, while the remaining 41.2% decreased. Production of main items of industrial products, crude oil, thermal energy, coal, gold, combed down, knitted goods, etc. decreased by volume.

In the first quarter of 2006, production of industry (at current prices) on 342.9 billion togrogs sold at domestic and foreign market.

Unemployment - At the end of March 2006, the number of registered unemployed was 33.8 thous, that decreased by 10.6 percent or 4.0 thous. persons compared to the same period of the previous year. The number of unemployed women was 19.0 thous, which is 56.4 percent of total registered unemployed.

In the first quarter of 2006, 6.6 thous registered unemployed persons entered into work. Of whom 14.0 percent entered in government or state-owned enterprises and remaining 86.0 percent in joined companies, cooperatives or other types of employers, such as small-scale private businesses.
