Textile industry output in 2006 on the wane

Average textile industrial production in the first three months of 2006 dropped 10.2 percent compared to the same period last year, whereas that of ready-made garments declined 11.2 percent.

However, tanning and manufacturing of leather products rose almost 25 percent.

For the month of March alone textile production fell 2.9 percent contrasting that of wearing apparel which surged around 11.5 percent.
