Garment exports reach $8,200 mn

India's garment export has grown 32 percent to $8,200 million during 2005-06 compared to last fiscal.

Considering this overwhelming figure, Apparel Export Promotion Council has started to establish competitive environment for the industry, informed Minister for Textiles, Shankersinh Vaghela.

Till now government has provided Rs7,500 million for the integrated textile parks which is likely to generate 20,000 employment.

Technology Upgradation Fund Scheme (TUFS) provides 5 percent interest reimbursement on the loan availed under it and scheme has been extended up to March 31, 2007.
