Vietnam Textile and Garment Association (Vitas) reported that country's textile and apparel export turnovers in the first half of 2006 recorded year–on–year rise of 32.7 percent to reached US $2.7 billion.
The US remains the top market, worth $1.4 billion accounting for nearly 52 percent of the total export turnover.
Most products exported to the US market belong to quota–controlled categories, leading to many difficulties as the quota fund gets exhausted late each year.
However, such difficulties are going to be under control, Le Quoc An, Vitas chairman opined, since Vietnamese enterprises are accessing to new markets, especially exporting non–quota categories to the US.
This is a true trend of Vietnam in effort to expand its export markets as well as deepen earnings in the giant market of US.
Statistics shows that in January–June period this year, of entire exports revenue to the US, non–quota goods categories reached $350 million, registered a rise of 3.9 percent in comparison with same period 2005.
By the end 2006, exports of non-quota category goods to the US is expected to to go up, significantly.
