Government's lethargy on providing fund to the Apparel parks in Ludhiana has ceased progress of Rs355 crore project.

Under the Scheme of Integrated Textile Park (SIPT) on reimbursement basis, Central Government was to provide Rs17 crore, but till the date officials have not released the fund except half million as token money, informed Sanjiv Gupta, President, Apparel Exporters Association of Ludhiana.

He also said that Rs1.5 crore has been spent for development work due to lack of fund facilities like road, sewerage system, water supply and drainage cannot be established.

Government should take charge of the project as this public-private undertaking and private investors have already invested Rs22 crore in the project, an apparel manufacturer stated.
