Cotton yarn production up 8.4%

Strategy of modernization, expansion and integration has raised yarn production of the country by 5 percent to 3,386 million kg from last year's 3,223 million kg.

Cotton yarn production rose 8.4 percent to 2,462 million kg this year compared to 2,273 million kg last year, informed East India Cotton Association (EICA).

Blended and non-cotton yarn production fell 2.7 percent to 924 million kg from 950 million kg last year.

Cotton is the main raw material for country's textile industry and increase in cotton production is good sign for entire industry as well.
