Sports-wear favourite in domestic market

Argentina has emerged as a major market for textile and garment exports with the growing domestic demand since 2003.
Though 2005 witnessed a slight fall in the growth-rate, the market seemed to have recovered this year.
During January-April 2006 period, retail sales represented 19.7 percent year-on-year rise.
April recorded highest sales at 37.8 percent with textiles, footwear and apparel sales climbing 24.9 percent, compared to the same month last year.
Among all categories, sports-wear and accessories proved to be favourite, surging 40.5 percent.
Growth in home-furnishing products was pegged at 16.5 percent.
