Man-Made Fibre production recorded noticeable growth of 18.58 percent to 280.32 million kg in first quarter of 2006-2007 compared to 236.38 million kg in April-June 2005-2006.

MMF production recorded 91.73 million kg in April, 95.58 million kg in May and 93.01 million kg in June compared to 79.15 million kg, 75.15 million kg and 82.04 million kg for respective month in 2005.

In first quarter of 2006-2007, production of polyester staple fibre (PSF) which reported highest growth among fibres, increased 33.65 percent to 201.75 million kg from 150.94 million kg in 2005.

On the other hand Acrylic and Viscose staple fibres registered negative growth.

PSF production in April gained 27 percent to 61.43 million kg, In May it grew 48 percent to 71.09 million kg and in June it rose 26.6 percent to 69.23 lower than May 2006 compared to 48.23 million kg, 48.03 million kg and 54.68 million kg for respective month in 2005.
