Political disturbances are likely to cost Bangladesh Tk200 crore from exports of readymade garments. President of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters' Association (BKMEA), Fazlul Hoque informed that if current crises continues, they will lose Tk100 crore from Monday.
The political turmoil will also see woven exporters losing Tk100 crore as production looses along with losses they will face if cancellation of export and orders takes place.
Out of the total export of US$10.5 billion to US, woven and knitwear items had share of 76% last year and buoyed by this target was set at $9.5 billion current fiscal year.
