Spinning and weaving sector production has slowed down since 2004, adversely affected by the slump in man-made fibre industry and registering a year-on-year drop of around 8.5 percent by 2005 end.
After slight improvement in initial months of this year, September recorded a significant fall of 9.4 percent to 64,813 tons in yarn output.
Weaving, apparel and knitwear sector also weakened in September with 1.8, 0.3 and 1.1 percent decline in output, respectively.
The major reason for this downtrend is the drop in export demand from giant US market.
Even cotton product exports to the US reported decline in recent months.
