Textile products & cotton textiles register significant growth during Apr-Dec 2005-06

• There was a surge in imports (10.72 percent), accounted for by yarn and fabric (36.46 percent) and RMG (44.11 percent). Imports of Made-ups 9-36.17 percent) and Raw Materials (-20.23 percent) has declined.
• Under TUFS, although there was a decline in the total number of applications sanctioned (- 31.22 percent), the amounts sanctioned and disbursed increased by 88.77 percent and 67.12 percent respectively. The performance in respect of the powerloom sector was lackluster with a decline in the amount sanctioned (-32.62 percent) and disbursement (-15.93 percent).
• The share of textile sector in FDI was 1.39 percent during this period as against 1.57 percent in the corresponding period last year.
• The share in the number of Letters of Intent (LOI) / Direct Industrial Licenses (DIL) was 32.38 percent and the share in investment was 43.08 percent.
