Almost 90 stores were destroyed by fire broke out in Boe Bae wholesale textile market on December 29, 2006. Boe Bae is one of the biggest markets in Bangkok.
Blaze consumed huge quantity of textile products and garments, which were stocked in the store buildings, causing damage worth a few hundred million baht.
Fire tenders were obstructed from getting close to the smoldering shops by a canal and narrow roads. It was brought under control after seven hours of struggle by fire fighters.
An inquiry has been commenced to ascertain why the blaze erupted.
