Fire burns down Tareq-Azim Textile Mills

Fire broke out at Tareq-Azim Textile Mills, situated in Chittagong Export Processing Zone (EPZ-CTG), on March 5, 2007 in the afternoon. Entire building of this towel factory was burnt down.

An electric short circuit is believed to have caused the blaze. Unit was manufacturing towels under sub-contracts with firms.

No one was injured as all 500 officials and labourers managed to escape from the burning unit owned by Ilias brothers, according to Executive Director Abdur Rahman.

Navy, Air Force and Fire Station units tried to douse the flames, but they were obstructed by thick black smoke.
