Textile products quarterly statistics

Yarn fabric production in the fourth quarter of 2006 dropped 24.3 percent to reach 133,555 square meters as against 176,409 square meters in 2005.

While imports grew around 15.3 percent to 88,079 square meters even though domestic market fell by 12 percent to 221,634 square meters.

Output of blue denim fabric recorded a plunge of 36.4 percent to mark 266,106 square meters.

Imports reached 45,273 square meters, down 22.3 percent and domestic market marked 311,379 square meters, about 34.7 less than that in 2005.

Knit fabric production reached 332,076 kilograms, representing year-on-year slide of over 20 percent.

Imports declined 4.4 percent to 131,895 kilograms as the domestic demand reduced more than 16 percent.
