On Saturday, July 14, Turkmenistan, the second major gas producer as well as exporter in Soviet Union, appointed not only a new assistant for Energy Minister but also a Textile Minister.
Baimyrat Khodzhamukhamedov was disignated as the new Energy Minister, while Dzhemal Geoklenova was named Textile Minister by President Kurbanguly Berdymukhamedov.
The country exports around 50 billion cubic metres of gas annually, which is sufficient to meet the requirement of countries like France and few others. Further, Turkmenistan is also the prime exporter of cotton.
According to the assurance of Kurbanguly, gas treaty of Niyazov's would be followed in Moscow to improve petroleum exports to Russia. Moreover, negotiations for a new gas pipe line with China are in progress.
