Despite a rise in domestic demand, Chinese textile industry was able to keep up pace with demand from international markets in first half of 2007.
During the first five months of this year, big textile enterprises realized a total sales volume of around 109 billion yuan, of which the domestic sales volume was 82.23 billion yuan, up 1.54 percent than the growth rate of the same period of last year.
The export value of Chinese textile and clothing was US $58.957 billion, up 15.77 percent compared to the corresponding period of previous year, the rise rate decreased by 8.78 percent. Trade surplus reached $51.548 billion, showing an increase of 17.59 percent, compared to 27.99 percent last year.
