Economy mirrors a remarkable industrial growth

Brazil has bagged good revenue this year with a growth of 11.22 percent in the first 10 months of 2007 compared to the same period last year.

According to the estimates of Federation of Industries of the state of Parana (FIEP), 2007 will prove to be the best year with regard to industrial performance since 2002.

Industrial sectors that gave the best performances include clothing, accessories and machinery. Moreover, employment in the country also increased by 1.92 percent in the past one year. Among others, textiles employed the largest number of workers.

Leather exports of Brazil also soared up to US $1.99 billion in the period between January to November reflecting an increase of 18.3 percent compared to 2006. According to the reports of Confederation of Brazilian Hides and Skins Industries (CICB), leather has already been recognized as one of the leading export products of Brazil and is likely to close the year with shipments worth $2 billion.
