A cloud of black smoke engulfed the surrounding area, as a huge fire caught in the three-storey Galleria Baclaran Shopping Mall during the early hours of Thursday morning.
It took more than 10 hours for the fire fighters to bring the blazing flames under control. According to firemen, no one was injured at the mall in the crowded Baclaran neighbourhood in the heart of the city.
He also divulged that the fire began at around dawn in an air conditioning unit.
Although stall owners vacated the mall with their products, most of which were clothes and textiles, the total damages to property is expected to reach Peso 30 million.
