Consumer Prices in October, as measured by the CPI, increased by 0.1% in the month.
This was the same as the increase recorded in October of last year and as a result, the annual rate of inflation remained at 3.0%.
The EU Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) was unchanged in the month, compared to an increase of 0.1% in October 2004.
The annual rate of inflation, as measured by the HICP, fell accordingly from 2.8% in September to 2.7% in October.
The most notable changes in the year were increases in Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas & Other Fuels (+11.9%), Health (+6.2%), Transport (+6.1%), Education
(+4.8%) and Restaurants & Hotels (+3.1%).
There were decreases in Clothing & Footwear (-3.0%) and Furnishings, Household Equipment & Routine Household Maintenance (-1.1%).
The annual rate of inflation for Goods was 1.7% in October while the corresponding rate for Services was 4.1%.
The most significant monthly price changes were increases in Education (+2.1%) and Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas & Other Fuels (+1.7%).
These increases were partially offset by decreases in Clothing&Footwear (-1.3%) and Transport (-0.8%).
