Turkiye's total turnover surges by 105.4% on annual basis in Feb

Turkiye’s total turnover surged by 105.4 per cent on an annual basis in February, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), which recently said it was driven by a significant growth in the industrial, construction, trade and services sectors. The largest annual increase in turnover—123.6 per cent—was in the industrial sector, followed by services with a rise of 119.6 per cent.

Turnover in the trade and construction sectors increased by 94.1 per cent and 55.2 per cent respectively in February.

On a monthly basis, the seasonally and calendar-adjusted total turnover index was up by 7.9 per cent.

"Industry increased by 7.3 per cent, construction increased by 2.7 per cent, trade increased by 9.4 per cent and services increased by 6.1 per cent on monthly basis in February 2022," said a statement by TurkStat.

Meanwhile, retail sales volume at constant prices increased by 6.2 per cent in February this year compared with the same month of previous year. That volume at constant prices increased by 0.5 per cent in February compared with the previous month. In the same month non-food (except automotive fuel) sales increased by 12.6 per cent year over year (YoY).

Retail turnover at current prices increased by 82.2 per cent in February YoY and by 7.5 per cent compared with the previous month. In the same month, non-food (except automotive fuel) sales increased by 83 per cent.
