EPCglobal's apparel, fashion & footwear RFID Summit

Apparel, Fashion and Footwear Summit on the use of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology and EPC (Electronic Product Code) standards is to be organized by EPCglobal India, a part of GS1 India.

The Summit, first of its kind, is to be held on February 22, 2006 in Barcelona, Spain, announced a company source.

Summit is likely to create a Business Action Group (BAG) for the apparel, fashion and footwear sectors.

This Business Action Group will develop standards suited to every industry and to EPCglobal system for RFID application.

The industry has felt the need for global standards to get maximum returns from their RFID investments, said Ravi Mathur, CEO, EPCglobal India.

He stressed on the participation of Indian companies as the summit would help them understand several applications and advantages of EPC/RFID and enable them to improve their Supply Chain Management.

Moreover, this summit wii be beneficial for Indian companies targeting export markets in the post-quota regime and emerging retailer acceptance or mandates.

Reduced inventory, process efficiency, anti-counterfeit, global track and trace for customer satisfaction are some of the benefits RFID systems offer to apparel, fashion and footwear sectors.

Many big companies from apparel, fashion and footwear industry dealing with finishing, retail and logistics support are to participate in this summit.
