AAFA Awards evening for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) announces that it will present 28th American Image Awards. It is destined to be one of the hottest benefit events of the year, taking place Monday, May 15th at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City.

The evening will profit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

This year's honorees include Peter Boneparth, Chairman and CEO of Jones Apparel Group, who will receive The Man of the Year Award; Marlo Thomas, who will accept the 2006 Spirit of a Woman Award for her tireless work on behalf of St. Jude; Betsey Johnson will be honored as Designer of the Year; Blake Nordstrom will accept the Retailer of the Year Award on behalf of Nordstrom Incand Simon Doonan, Creative Director of Barneys New York, will receive The Fashion Maverick Award.

The evening's celebrity emcee and presenters will be announced shortly. Forty percent of the evening's net proceeds will benefit St. Jude.

The AAFA, the leading national trade association representing the most influential brands in apparel, footwear, and other sewn products, sponsors the2006 American Image Awards each year to honor individuals in fashion and retail whose career achievements, charitable activities and records of outstanding service set industry standards.
