Past connection strengthens trade ties between Italy & Ethiopia

Past connection between Italy and Ethiopia has promoted trade ties between companies of two countries in textile and garments, leather and leather products, and agriculture, said an official of Italian embassy in Addis Ababa.
According to the statement, Ethiopia has exported goods worth US $33 million to Italy last year.
While, Italian exports reflected a huge trade imbalance as exports to Ethiopia during the same period accounted for about 190 million dollars.
Italian goods exported to Ethiopia include chemicals, materials for leather industry, while Ethiopia exports coffee, horticultural products, hides and skins and textiles to Italy.
The volume of Italian investment to Ethiopia has reached 315 million birr (about US $36.29 million) only during the last FY (July 2004 - July 2005).
