Viet Nhat Spinning Textile Garment Company (Vinaja) plans to send its first shipment of moquito nets to the UN in early May, said Chairman Lam Dao Hung.
The Olyset mosquito net produced by Vinaja's factory in collaboration with Japanese Sumitomo Chemical Company, is a cooperative effort from southern Binh Duong province.
Vinaja has been selected as a partner to produce six million nets every year for the UN, said Yonekura Hiromasa, President of Sumitomo Chemical.
The UN is to donate the nets to tropical African countries in its Roll Back Malaria campaign, he said.
About 1 million people die each year suffering malaria in Africa, of which children under five years of age are the major casualties.
Vinaja invested VND100 billion ($6.3 million) in building factory and machinery and Sumitomo Chemical provided technical assistance as well as markets for the products.
Vinaja has made use of Sumitomo Chemical's special technology for nets, which not only repel mosquitos but kill any that come into contact with the net.
Vinaja Chairman Lam Dao Hung expects his company to sell the nets in Viet Nam.
