Japan - Bangla Group sets to produce yarn and textile from bamboo

Japan-Bangla Group unveiled its plans to establish mills in the northern region of Bangladesh for manufacturing yarn and textile utilizing bamboo as raw material.
The group's six-member delegation informed this after they visited the sites for establishing the planned mills in the northern region and checked the availability of bamboo in Bogra, Rangpur and Lalmonirhat districts.
They explained that the yarn, which will be manufactured in this these mills can be exported to Europe, US and other countries, besides from utilizing it in readymade garment units in the country.
Lee Kwon Hyuk, Massaki Shibata, Yoshito Igarashi, Ok Jong Doo, Han Yu Hee and Japan-Bangla Group representative M Selim Prodhan were included in the deligation.
The delegation members informed that they might not to choose Lalmonirhat as a site for establishing the mills as there is no gas, but Bogra might be a site as it is going to be joined with gas supply network within soon.
The delegation informed that they have such technology to grow bamboo in six months and they provide it to the farmers.
Shajahan Siraj, Textiles and Jute Minister stated that it would bring a revolutionary change in the textile industry if yarn can be manufactured from bamboo.
Siraj added that the farmers would be highly encouraged to produce bamboo if they get proper price of it.
