Statistics from Vitas reveal that during January-June 2006 period, Vietnam imported US $118.2 million worth of thread for its domestic production, representing a year-on-year rise of 48 percent.
Korea emerged as the top supplier for this product.
In this period, importing price quoted by Chinese suppliers was around $0.46 per reel of 100 percent-polyester thread, recording a hike of 7 percent compared with same period in 2005.
However, price of thread from Hong Kong decreased 6.9 percent, to reach $0.00027 per meter.
