In June 2006, importing price of elastic tape for local textile and garment production saw sharp decline from Korean market, quoted US $0.17 per tape, representing lowest price since early 2006.
The figure shows a decreasing rate of 37 percent and 41.3 percent compared with early first and second quarter 2006, respectively.
In comparison with same period 2005, the rate is up to 46 percent.
Besides elastic tape, thread is one of several materials mostly imported from Korea, worth $18.2 million during the first half 2006, with a year–on–year increasing of 48 percent.
