After so many suicides in the state, Republican Party of India and other farmers' organisations launched a protest and demonstration against the Cotton Cooperative Marketing Federation.
Instead of increasing the support price, the state Government has announced an inadequate support price for the cotton growers.
This has led the troubled farmers to take drastic steps in the Vidarbha region. The average number of suicides in the region has increased from 3 to 5.
