Workers of garment industries have warned that they would declare strike from January next if their five-point demand was not accepted by December 31, 2005.
Demands include fixation of minimum wage at Tk 2500, weekly holiday, right of organising trade unions and implementation of labour laws.
A press conference was called at SKOP office at Topkhana Road to announce their demands.
Workers complained that they were forced to work for 12 to 14 hours per day instead of 8 hours.
Women workers were compelled to work during night shifts and forced to work 3 to 4 days under stress on the excuse of meeting delivery schedules.
