A two-year project has been decided to start in efforts to develop textile, clothing and footwear industries, said Development Minister of Greece, Dimitris Sioufas.
The 145-million-euro (US$171 million) project will incorporate structural renovations in the textile industry and promotion of innovative strategy that will enhance product quality and enlarge exports, said the minister.
The minister also said that from 2006, Greece would organize a "Fashion Week" show twice a year, presenting clothing and footwear products.
Sioufas added that European Union was likely to approve the project by the end of the week.
Greek textile industry association reveals that the country's export of textile products plunged by 15 percent in the first six months of this year, and the annual decrease is likely to be 7 percent.
