Italian silk industry with steady sales, volume drops

According to Italian clothing and textile association SMI-Ati, the Italian silk industry has reported a 4.7 percent drop in volume for the third quarter of 2005, but saw sales rise slightly by 0.9 percent helped by a shift to value-added products and natural fibres.
For the first nine months, volumes were down 6 percent.
