Ms Kiran Dhingra, a former Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Textiles, has been appointed as Textiles Secretary. She has replaced Ms Rita Menon, who retired last month.
Ms Dhingra is from the 1975 IAS batch and was serving as Secretary in the Panchayati Raj Ministry, before she assumed office in the Textiles Ministry.
Ms Dhingra who worked earlier in the Textiles Ministry from 2000 till 2005 as Joint Secretary, is expected to hold office until January 2013.
