The Southern African Clothing and Textile Workers’ Union (SACTWU) and the South African Home Textiles Manufacturers Employers’ Organisation have reached a proposed wage settlement for the Home Textiles Sector.

The proposal was developed during a recent reconciliation meeting, after the trade union had declared a national wage dispute for this sector. The proposed settlement is a 6.5% wage increase backdated to 1st July this year.

In addition, there will be improvements to time-off arrangements for union office-bearers. There will also be an increase in employer contribution levy to the SACTWU Worker Health Project, from 30c per week per employee to 50c per week per employee. We are now recommending this settlement to our members.
