Chinese textile industry flourishes on the ground of better infrastructural facilities available there, says V S Velayutham, former Chairman, Southern India Mills' Association (SIMA).
The association along with Textile Export Promotion Council (Texprocil) had recently sent a 10-member delegation to China; and its report noted specifically that all the industrial cities are connected by six lane express highways.
Most of the units are located in industrial zones equipped with high-tech infrastructural facilities like five to six tier fly-over and underground tunnels to bypass traffic, Velayutham added.
Transportation of goods in China from factories to their final destination takes only 15 days, just about half of the time taken by Indian textile units.
Moreover, use of Geotextile or geosynthetic in making roads extends the life of roads, carries higher load bearing capacity and reduce accidents with a huge difference.
Thus, geotextile improves quality of roads and besides creating a demand internally.
