Hunger strike by Bangladesh Sangjukta Chat, Suta o Bastrakal Sramik Federation (BSCSBSF) since January 29, 2006, at Muktangan for the acceptance of their 10 point charter has been postponed on Labour Ministry's assurance.
Demands put up by BSCSBSF include fixing Tk 3,000 as minimum wages for workers of denationalised factories, no privatizing nationalised industries, provide group insurance cover for industrial workers, release of pending wages and ensure parity in wages and facilities, both in public as well as private industries.
Re-opening of all closed mills, advancing interest free agriculture loans, replacing anti-workers laws with new laws and reinstatment of workers' leaders by withdrawing false cases against them, were some of the other demands put up by them.
State Minister for Labour and Employment Amanullah Aman, assured BSSF leaders yesterday, to consider their demands in consultation with the Ministries of Finance, Jute and Textile and worker's leaders, informed Federation leaders.
The Federation, meanwhile, is going ahead with strengthening their stir by conducting discussions with workers of garments, textile, jute and weaving industries, and also with Federations and Trade Unions in February and March.
