Uniform and Textile Service Association (UTSA) is working with supplier and operator member companies to develop information to help members provide the proper safety components and systems for the different types of washroom systems being installed.
Several recent questions rose about employee safety, manual, semi-automated, and fully automated washroom systems have prompted UTSA to provide a 'road map' companies can use to help determine what they must do.
OSHA regulations are law, but many ANSI/ASTM/ASME and other standards are not considered mandatory unless adopted by OSHA as a part of the Code of Federal Regulations.
Standards are definitely used as voluntary guides to help clarify and assist companies to provide best practices and recommended components for production equipment and system installations.
UTSA members deliver clean textiles to customers and pick up the soiled textiles for cleaning and reuse. This makes the industry one of the nation's largest recyclers, while saving energy and preventing further depletion of scarce natural resources.
