Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) receives 1 billion shillings less than the expected amount, from Eastleigh area of Nairobi every month, because of businessmen who want to avoid tax payment, by hook or by crook.
Michael Waweru, Commissioner General, believes that corrupt traders who illegally bring in textile products from North Africa, evade taxes.
KRA has now taken up steps to drive tax collections and has threatened strict legal actions against fraudulent businessmen.
