Textiles ministry schemes to improve textile sector

II Handicrafts Sector :
In the Handicrafts Sector, the following schemes have been introduced:

(i)Credit Guarantee Scheme for Handicrafts Artisans which was being implemented in J&K, was extended to entire country in September, 2005. The scheme facilitates and simplifies access to credit to Handicraft Artisans without any collateral.

(ii) The Scheme for work-shed for handicrafts artisans, which was being implemented in J&K, was also extended to entire country in March, 2005. The scheme focuses on ensuring improved working conditions with emphasis on a healthy working environment to the handicraft artisans, which will lead to better productivity and enhanced contribution to the national economy.

(iii) In addition to the above, a new component which enables the setting up of a Facility Centre for exporters and entrepreneurs has been incorporated under the Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hastshilp Vikas Yojana.

III Export Sector:
To provide the industry with world class infrastructure facilities for setting up their textile units, the Scheme for Integrated Textile Park was launched. The Textile Centres Infrastructure Development Scheme (TCIDS) and the Apparel Parks for Exports Scheme (APES) were merged to form this scheme.

This scheme is based on Public-Private Partnership (PPP), and will equip textile units to meet international environmental and social standards. The Government of India support under the schemed by way ofgrant or equity shall be limited to 40 percent of the project cost, subject to a ceiling of Rs. 40 crores.
