Viswa Jyothi Handicrafts Association started a training centre to impart training in handicrafts in order to revive the sector.
Chairman K Shankar informed that about 70 women have undergone training in 20 courses, till now.
Training was conducted in courses like sand painting, glass painting, block painting on hard board.
Women were also being trained in floral decorations, various types of embroidery, saree painting, woodcarvings, dolls using plaster of Paris and bamboo crafts .
Fabric companies were taking the initiative to impart training, Sankar informed.
Handicrafts Corporation in consultation with Centre would find out ways to market the items being prepared during training.
He said that items prepared would be sold through sales exhibition.
