Fraternity Chemicals Specialities Pvt Ltd, merchandising more than 300 varieties of yarns and fibres, is planning to manufacture upholstery for cars as no Indian company manufactures it.
The unit will be located in Silvasa or Baddi with an initial investment of Rs 9 crore.
Global car manufacturers have set up manufacturing units in India in the recent times, creating a huge market for car upholstery which is presently imported from Taiwan, Malaysia, and South Korea said D S Sangha, Managing Director.
There is a distinct possibility to expand trade with Pakistan and West Asia as delegation from there had shown interest in import from India, said Sangha.
Export of filament yarn could be undertaken for use in veils (burkhas) worn by women and mats used in prayer as filament yarn was not produced there, said Sangha.
Acrylic fibre export to the US was being considered and Vardhman, Reliance and Indian Acrylics will supply acrylic fibre to Fraternity Chemicals for export.
