'Research Open House' at NC Textile University

North Carolina (NC) State University College of Textiles will invite for its fourth Annual Research Open House, to be held from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Thursday, April 6, 2006.

This Open House will give the opportunity to tour the College, discuss research with faculty and graduate students, and participate in discussions about research directions for the College.

- 9:00 – 9:15 Welcome and introductory talk on “State of the College”
- 9:15 – 11:00 Keynote Speakers from the College Discussing:
National Textile Center (NTC) - Harold Freeman
Distance Education (TexEd) - Tim Clapp
Nanomaterials - Russell Gorga
Nanofiltration Hooman - Tafreshi
Color Science - David Hinks
Smart Textiles - Tushar Ghosh
Information Systems - Jeff Joines

11:15 – 12:00 - Graduate student poster session organized by Textile Association of Graduate Students (TAGS)
12:00 – 1:00 - Lunch in the Atrium
1:00 – 1:30 - Wrap-up of poster presentations
1:30 – 3:00 - College tours
3:00 - Graduate Student Award Presentations

Information, discussions and demonstrations will highlight current research involving medical textiles, homeland security, nonwovens, nanotextiles, polymer and color chemistry, textile engineering, design, merchandising, and marketing.

Graduate students will present research projects in a poster session, and industry representatives will serve as judges in selecting the most outstanding poster presentation.

The Department of Textile and Apparel, Technology & Management at North Carolina State University educates undergraduate and graduate students for a career in the fiber, textile, and apparel industry complex.

The mission of the department is accomplished by offering Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Ph.D. degree programs that seek to develop leadership and promote academic excellence in both the student and the faculty.
