About 180.000 contract manufacturer firms serve the backbone for the textile and apparel industry.
However, of late, with the steady decline in the textile and garment industry, about 19,000 such firms have shut rendering over 1 million persons jobless.
Commenting over the issue, Contract Manufacturer Association Chairman, Kocaoðlu, informed that their Association had shot off a letter to Prime Minister demanding solution for the problems faced by their industry.
Major issues plaguing the industry according to him were over valuation of Turkish Lira, high industrial wages and social insurance contributions.
Kocaoðlu opined that these issues if not sorted out soon, then more contract manufacturing firms will have to shutter and Turkish exporters find it difficult to manage without
contract manufacturers.
Kocaoðlu added that the Association was yet to receive any response from the Prime Minister.
