National Cotton Council of America's Cotton Council International (CCI) is accepting applications for the 2006-07 Cotton Leadership Class through June 16.

Those interested in applying to this class or nominating an industry member for the same can visit the Cotton Leadership Program's web site at http://leadership.cotton.org to review the program curriculum, eligibility requirements and download the application.

The site also includes a contact form, which allows users to submit questions, request information and schedule a personal visit with local program alumni.

The 2006-07 class, which will be comprised of four producers and one participant from each of the other six industry segments, will be announced in August by the NCC's Cotton Leadership Development Committee.

The NCC's Cotton Leadership Program is geared to individuals who have the potential and desire to become leaders for the US cotton industry. Participants receive developmental training during five week-long sessions across the Cotton Belt.

The class interacts with industry leaders and visits farms, processing operations and research facilities. They also meet with lawmakers and government agency representatives during a visit to Washington, DC, and attend the NCC's annual meeting and its mid-year board of directors meeting.

The program, initiated in '83, is supported by a grant to The Cotton Foundation from DuPont Crop Protection and is managed by NCC's Member Services department. For more information, applicants may contact NCC's Member Services at 901-274-9030 or their local NCC Member Services representative.

Cotton Council International (CCI) is the export promotion arm of the National Cotton Council of America.

CCI's mission is to increase exports of US cotton, cottonseed and US manufactured cotton products through activities that affect every phase of the marketing chain - from the initial mill buyer of cotton fiber or purchaser of US cotton-rich yarns and fabrics on through to the final consumer.
